Rampage

In a sanctuary, a gorilla named George is infected with the genetic engineering project that came from a failed mission. To save him from the adverse effects, the primatologist who takes care of him named Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson) has to find the cure. Along the way, Davis meets people who help him save George and the humanity.

In this film, your love and care for animals will be lightly touched. There are scenes in the movie where your feelings towards animals particularly to a gorilla will be enkindled because of how catchy his emotions are. It will remind you of a pet that you have loved for a long time. You just don’t want anything bad to happen to your pet. The same thing goes with George in the film. The movie is successful in captivating the sentiments of the audience when it comes to showing concern for an afflicted animal.

Due to the propagation of news about abused animals, one becomes aware of his thoughts and feelings towards them. The concern that people nowadays have for these animals is continuing to fire up. Having this kind of set up in our society today is a good sign that many care. Just as the news, the film shows how one can react to this kind of situation. The film is a good source of information and gathers support from its viewers.

The film introduces a way to keep the interaction between humans and animals going. This helps the storyline flow and it brings different emotions to the scenes like sadness and happiness. The writers are creative in showing that side of the film. It brings the movie into a whole new level.

Aside from letting you build your feelings towards animals, the movie shows the involvement of science and technology. The use of science and modern technology in the film is just basic however it played the main role in giving a conflict in the story. The film is able to capitalize this use in bringing out a strong plot. Since a branch of science is simply tapped, the message easily gets through. There is no need to know a lot about the specifics of this knowledge to get on with the story. The film basically knows how to capture the excitement of the different viewers with the inclusion of science and technology.

Rampage is an action-filled movie with some touching scenes which are played by George. One particular scene can get the viewers into tears. That’s how moving the film is. That is the effect of having an animal play a role in the movie. On the other hand, the action scenes are intense and can get you at the edge of your seats. The filmmakers carefully created the destruction scenes to be not too violent for the young viewers. There is even a cartoonish fate for some characters in the film.

The film is also a feel-good movie because of the team up of the protagonists and an unexpected turn out of events in the film. There are also funny scenes that will leave you with a good impression of the film.

Dwayne Johnson is a good fit in his role because of some action sequences and he resembles a typical father that is caring to his child which in the movie is his master-animal relationship with the primate, George. However, this relationship is more of a brother-brother relationship because of how cool they are with each other.

This movie is another wake-up call to take care of the animals, big or small. When we do our part, in turn, these animals will show their gratitude towards us. The movie is not short of its call to do good to others including the animals because after all, we all live in the same planet, Earth. I give the movie a B+.
