More Highlights of the Day

When I was at the mall, I had a conversation with one of my Singles for Christ household members and friend, Stephen, through Facebook Messenger. We talked about one event that can benefit us by making us fit, and that is the virtual run and walk program through an application. By joining it, we will record our pace in running and walking and then, submit it once the target mission is completed. The options are 5k, 10k, and 21k. I told Stephen that I will be choosing 5k because I have no exercise, and that is what I have achieved so far as the longest distance that I had run in a marathon. Later on, Stephen invited me for a badminton game.

Badminton is one of my sports. I enjoy playing this sports because I know I am good at this. It gives a good feeling whenever you are able to let the shuttlecock cross the other side with whatever move you create — over or under. When you have a skillful partner, it’s double the satisfaction that it creates. You know that you are enjoying the game when the shuttlecock crosses both sides and never lands on the ground for a long time. With some strategic moves like the smash, the game becomes more exciting so when you are able to perform such moves, you will definitely have a good time.

Before we conducted the game, Stephen and I did some warm-up exercises so our bodies will be ready for some stretches. It’s always better to condition your body before every game so a warm-up is indeed advisable. After doing the exercise, Stephen taught me a move that is the proper way of receiving the ball, and that is the “over.” At first, I adjusted myself to it because I thought learning a new move rather than doing what you have accustomed to is a challenging task. I did several hits on the racket but without letting it cross the other side. I thought the new move is not working until I let loose. I thought there were times when I did it right, but it was all because I did not think about my movement most of the time so there surely were times when I was not properly doing it. We played on until I asked for a break which later on was not followed by a new game. Instead, it was just jogging around the grass area for several laps that we did. After all, the place was darkening because it was already evening.

During the game, I was feeling my stomach rumbling and I know that it is a signal that I want to eat. After the game, I asked Stephen for us to eat somewhere, but he did not give any sign that he wants to. Instead, he led me to the place where the food park and restaurants are. We just toured around and then got to this place called Lamp Quarters where we did our first photo shoots. There are a lot to try in that food park like unlimited wings, rice, and fries. Stephen said that it’s one that we should try some other time.

When we were about to go home, we had passed by a place where they sell buy 1 take 1 milk tea. I asked the seller if their milk tea is not tea-based, and then said that for now yes, so we were able to avail of it. I have been living a caffeine-free life because of my health. I ordered Taro while Stephen opted for Matcha. The milk tea was excellent. The milk is creamy and the sweetness is just right, plus the pearls are soft and sweet. I also ordered for Chicharon Bagnet for us to have something to eat. It is flavorful though a bit hard to crunch. The sellers were kind enough to offer us vinegar in a bowl. Also, they offered us the barbecue that I had asked for but was not available then. The barbecue has a strong meaty taste and smoky flavor that I like, and the serving is big too. We spent a while in that place with good music like 90’s song Don’t Speak by No Doubt. It gives a good feeling hearing such song again.

The night is still young but we had to part ways. Stephen walked towards 7th street where he resides while I walked my way home for about 20 minutes. It so nice to have something to tell within the day. I am looking forward to more blogging especially when there are highlights to tell. I will definitely be back.

Another Time in Arvo

I just had Chicken Balls from Eggspert here in Food Choices at Arvo Ayala Malls Marikina. It wasn’t that good experience eating because the chicken balls are a bit sticky when biting. This is the first time that I’ve eaten such quality of chicken balls from Eggspert because before this I usually enjoy eating them with the self-mixed sauce that are combinations of sweet sauce, vinegar, and spicy oil. Anyway, I didn’t mind too much eating them. I just continued biting and chomping until I finished the whole lot.

After eating, I drank water from the Wilkins Pure 500ml bottled mineral water that I bought from Takoyakiks worth 20 pesos. By the way, I bought the two servings of chicken balls for 24 pesos. I had 6 pesos discount from my PWD ID. I usually get discounts for my food because I have a psychosocial disability. It’s almost three years now that I have been taking advantage of it. Next week, I will have it renewed because it is expiring after three years.

It’s cold here in Food Choices. The cold bottled water intensified the chilly feeling that I am having now but I like a cold weather than a warm one. Speaking of the weather, it’s going to be summer once again. The warm air is slowly creeping in every room. I know it’s not yet summer because I know how it feels when summer is here. When it arrived, you will feel sweaty for the day. It feels humid and it feels hot everywhere outside. You just want to stay in an airconditioned room like inside the malls to somehow die down the warm air that you feel. Oh well, seasons pass and change is constant.

I have been liking the music here in Arvo. There are some tracks that I particularly like when I hear them. Learning the modern music is something that I want to instill in myself. I would like to just listen to Spotify and hear the music of today. I just don’t get the right time for it. I don’t usually stay in my room to do the things that I like. More often, I stay in the living room and spend for the things that I like doing like surfing the Internet and watching TV. When I find the right time for it, I will listen to different songs. Actually, I just ordered an audio CD album from Amazon in the US. It’s the album of The Calling which is Camino Palmero. It’s that album that I had been searching for back in High School. I was able to get a hand of the album from my high school classmate and friend, but I wanted to have a copy for myself until I’ve ordered one. It will arrive next month. I hope everything goes well in the shipment.

There’s not much people here unlike before the pandemic and during weekends. I like it this way. It’s just right. You can still see people eating but the place is not crowded. I usually do not spend long time in a place whenever I eat. This time, I still haven’t taken that much long of time, but long enough that I did something other than eating. There has still been nothing occupying my schedule since I resigned from work last January. I just manage a small online selling business that I just let be and work on for some strategies from time to time. Now, I am enjoying the freedom that I have because anytime soon my application for work might ask me to spend time for it.

Back Writing

Hi there everyone. I’m back writing. I just thought of writing my thoughts because I want to be active on WordPress again. This time, I’ll be writing just about anything that I can think of. I’ll still write about food reviews when I feel there’s so much fervor for them, and I’ll also write movie reviews if I found out that there’s still free movie screening in town and if there’s time and budget for it.

I’m here in Arvo, one of Ayala Malls’ mall located in Marikina Heights which is just few steps away from home. I have just eaten Red Ribbon’s Banana Crunch Slice and Taisan which are 23 pesos each for a total of 46 pesos. I found these two as a decent snack and indeed yummy. The crunch in the banana slice gives a different texture on the usual but differently soft banana bread. On the other hand, the Taisan has that merengue flavor but soft and made as a bread. I had fun eating these two from Red Ribbon. I will definitely buy them again someday or maybe bring home for my mom and my sister.

After eating these two, I had a craving for water because these two are sweet, and I’ve been doing away from eating sweets because I easily get wounded whenever I scratch my skin. Therefore, I bought mineral water from Pickup Sticks, one of the food stalls here in Foodtrip, a foodcourt in Puregold Ayala Malls Marikina. It’s Aqualife 500 ml for 20 pesos. I felt at ease after drinking it because I know I had helped myself in preventing excess on sugar intake.

One thing that keeps me busy these days is shopping at Shopee for food items that are worth 1 peso only. The promo of Shopee is called Deals Near Me and what you need to do is to stay put on the platform every after 3 hours starting from 9AM upto 12MN. This day is special because almost every hour, there’s promo. Just a while ago, I got myself a Dunkin’ Donut classic donut for only 1 peso. I just have to find a location where I can redeem it. I was thinking of claiming it when I go to malls so I won’t spend too much on my snacks. Also, I had gathered other 1 peso food vouchers like Jollibee Spaghetti, Burger McDo, Jollibee Peach Mango Pie, and others so I can spend them outside during my lunch. Now, I have a way to be thrifty especially that I am running a small business. If I will not be going to malls, I can just redeem them here in Arvo like the Jollibee food vouchers. Sadly, the Dunkin’ Donut is not available here.

It’s good to be back here. Maybe I’ll be writing more accounts of myself just like this. When there are good stories to tell I’ll write them down so this blog of mine will be updated. It’s still pandemic, but there’s so much good stories to tell so it’s better to shift our focus on what good life has to offer. It’s time to park my fingers. I hope I have given you a good one. Be back soon.
